Motherhood & Science Austria
About us
The Vienna local group of the “Motherhood and Science” network offers mothers* in science a platform to exchange ideas, network and support each other. Our focus is on research, networking, further education and counselling.
The topics of motherhood and science affect not only mothers*, but society as a whole, as care work is the foundation of human coexistence. That is why we are also targeting allies - supporters who are committed to structural changes in the scientific community. Together, we want to strengthen ourselves, make ourselves visible and question the often challenging, competition-oriented structures in academia.
The network is open to anyone who wants to campaign for family-friendly and inclusive science. Mothers*, fathers*, other parents and allies who support the cause are particularly welcome.

Main topics of the Vienna local group
- Maternity protection and parental leave in science
- Funding opportunities for parents in academia
- Cooperation with equal opportunities offices
- Compatibility of family and academic career
- Everyday working life with a child
- Networking with parents in flexible professions
